The ultimate wellbeing practise
Floating gives a boost to your mind and body, leaving you healthier and happier.
A 2018 study by the Laureate Institute for Brain Research said that after floating, participants reported ‘significant reductions in stress, muscle tension, pain, depression and negative affect, accompanied by a significant improvement in mood characterized by increases in serenity, relaxation, happiness and overall well-being’.
It helps our bodies by:
-
Reducing blood pressure, cortisol and other stress hormones
-
Taking stress off of our joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons so that they can heal faster
-
Allowing our skeleton to be naturally aligned
-
Bringing about a resting state which then allows us to sleep more easily at home
It helps our brains by:
-
Reducing stimulation, and so supporting mindfulness and meditation
-
Reducing anxiety and stress by taking the amygdala (fight or flight centre) off of high alert
-
Reducing our perception of pain
-
Increasing creativity
-
Reducing depression and negative emotions
-
Reducing the impact of some serious mental health issues

In terms of wellbeing, there’s not much floating doesn’t do! What’s best is that all of these benefits are interlinked: you might float to reduce anxiety or pain, and also end up sleeping better. Whichever you come to float for, all benefits are available to you
